12.1 Our Commitment
BowTel is committed to building a platform where everyone feels welcome regardless of their background. Discrimination has no place on BowTel.
12.2 Prohibited Grounds
In accordance with the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Alberta Human Rights Act, Hosts and Guests must not discriminate based on:
- Race, colour, or ethnic origin
- National origin or citizenship
- Religion or creed
- Age
- Sex (including pregnancy)
- Sexual orientation
- Gender identity or expression
- Marital or family status
- Disability (physical or mental)
- Genetic characteristics
- Pardoned criminal conviction or record suspension
- Source of income
12.3 Host Obligations
Hosts must:
(a) Make booking decisions based solely on legitimate, non-discriminatory factors such as:
- Listing capacity and availability;
- Guest verification status;
- Relevance of the property to the Guest's stated needs;
- House rules applied equally to all Guests;
(b) Not use language or imagery in listings that indicates a preference for or against Guests based on any prohibited ground;
(c) Not impose different terms, conditions, or house rules on Guests based on any prohibited ground;
(d) Provide reasonable accommodation for Guests with disabilities, to the point of undue hardship.
12.4 Guest Obligations
Guests must:
(a) Treat Hosts, their properties, and neighbours with respect;
(b) Not engage in discriminatory, harassing, or hateful conduct during their stay;
(c) Not leave reviews that are discriminatory or based on a Host's protected characteristics.
12.5 Reporting Discrimination
If you experience or witness discrimination on BowTel:
(a) Report it through the Platform's reporting feature or by emailing charter@bowtel.vacations;
(b) BowTel will investigate all reports and take appropriate action;
(c) You may also file a complaint with the Alberta Human Rights Commission or the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
12.6 Consequences
Violations of this policy may result in:
- Warning and required anti-discrimination training;
- Listing removal;
- Account suspension or permanent termination;
- Reporting to applicable human rights authorities.
