15.1 Our Approach
BowTel takes the safety and security of our community seriously. This policy outlines the measures we take and the expectations we have for community safety.
15.2 Identity Verification
15.2.1 Account Verification
All Users are required to verify their:
- Email address;
- Phone number (SMS verification).
15.2.2 Enhanced Verification
BowTel may require additional verification, including:
- Government-issued photo identification;
- Proof of address;
- Video verification;
- Additional checks as needed for trust and safety.
15.2.3 Host Verification
Hosts undergo additional verification through the Stripe Connect onboarding process, which includes identity verification and bank account verification.
15.3 Message Moderation
BowTel monitors messages exchanged through the Platform to:
- Detect and prevent sharing of contact information to circumvent the Platform;
- Identify potential fraud or scam attempts;
- Detect threatening, harassing, or discriminatory language;
- Protect the safety of our community.
Message moderation may be automated or manual. Users who attempt to circumvent the Platform's messaging and payment systems may have their accounts suspended.
15.4 Listing Verification
BowTel may verify listings through:
- Automated checks for listing completeness and quality;
- Review of photographs for accuracy;
- Cross-referencing with municipal licensing databases (where available);
- Responding to Guest reports of inaccurate listings.
15.5 Emergency Situations
In the event of an emergency at a listed property:
(a) Contact local emergency services (911) immediately;
(b) Contact BowTel support at zenith@bowtel.vacations;
(c) BowTel may contact emergency services on your behalf if we become aware of an emergency;
(d) BowTel will cooperate with law enforcement as required.
15.6 Prohibited Items and Activities
The following are strictly prohibited at BowTel-listed properties:
- Weapons (firearms, knives beyond kitchen use, explosives);
- Illegal drugs or controlled substances;
- Commercial activities not disclosed in the listing;
- Parties or events exceeding the listed occupancy without Host approval;
- Hidden recording devices in private spaces;
- Any activity that violates the Criminal Code of Canada.
15.7 Reporting
Report trust and safety concerns to charter@bowtel.vacations. Emergency situations should always be reported to local authorities first.
